MISTY COAST
Misty Coast is the dream pop child of Linn Frøkedal and Richard Myklebust, also known from the Norwegian noise masters, The Megaphonic Thrift. After ten years on the road with ampliers turned up to 11, tours with big indie heroes like Dinosaur Jr and Stephen Malkmus, a bit of tinnitus, and a Norwegian Grammy on the shelf, Frøkedal and Myklebust decided to adjust the recipe and brew a new witch’s brew. This time, the beauty would not be hidden behind a curtain of noise; instead, the pop melodies would be placed on top of the fuzzy bass and the experimental guitar pedal work. Since Misty Coast's debut album in 2017, the band has been on tours in Japan, the UK, and Europe, playing a three-digit number of club concerts and festivals. They have been nominated for the Norwegian grammy “Spellemannprisen” and received glowing reviews both domestically and internationally. Misty Coast is known for their strong guitar hooks, catchy, fuzzy basslines, and captivating, dreamy vocal melodies, with parallels drawn to bands like Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, PJ Harvey, and Broadcast. Misty Coast is currently in the studio working on a new album, but they will come to this year's Trästockfestivalen in a duo format, where they play stripped-down versions of new and old songs. We can't promise the same high level of fuzz as usual, but it is rumored to be both honest, misty, beautiful, and raw - and, moreover, the concert comes with a daydream guarantee!
